| Description | : | James C. McLaren came to the United States from Perth, Scotland in 1873. He was born in 1848. He spent some time in Rock Island, Illinois and Lincoln Center in Adams County before settling on 200 acres of land in Edna Township southwest of Massena. He was married to Catherine Orr Johnstone, another Scottish immigrant in 1880. To this union eight children were born. Augusta was the first child and she married E. K.
