Description	:	Catherine (Kate) Virginia Huffman Austin, 100, of Buena Vista, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Kendal of Lexington. Born June 5, 1912 to the late Chester Arthur Huffman and Lula Balser Huffman, Mrs. Austin had been a faithful and hard working member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church since her marriage in 1934. She was predeceased by her husband, George W. Austin, her son, William D. Austin II, five brothers, Pete, Boyd, Clarence, Raymond, and Leo and two sisters, Edna Hunt and Dorothy Beard. Born June 5, 1912 to the late Chester Arthur Huffman and Lula Balser Huffman, Mrs. Austin had been a faithful and hard working member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church since her marriage in 1934. She was predeceased by her husband, George W. Austin, her son, William D. Austin II, five brothers, Pete, Boyd, Clarence, Raymond, and Leo and two sisters, Edna Hunt and Dorothy Beard. Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, Ron L. Austin and wife, Freda, of Richmond; daughter-in-law, Marjorie P. Austin, of Buena Vista; grandson, William David Austin III and wife, Kathy, of Richmond; and granddaughters, Lori A. Austin, of Glasgow and Cortney A. Smith and husband, Dusty, of Ashburn. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Hunter Austin, Kali Austin, Collin Sorrels, Makena Smith, brother, Carl Huffman; and many nieces and nephews. An accomplished seamstress, she will be remembered for the wedding, May Day, prom, and homecoming dresses, as well as cheerleading outfits and costumes she made. She will also be remembered as the epitone of a genteel southern lady, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family visitation will take place at the home of her daughter-in-law, Marjorie Austin, 2625 Edgewood Road, Buena Vista. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Buena Vista Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryon LePere and the Rev. Dr. Brian D. Weger officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buena Vista Baptist Church 2174 Chestnut Avenue, Hospice of Rockbridge P.O.
