LUTHER TRIPLETT Miss Celia Ann Ball was born in the state of Ohio, Jan. 20, 1835, and died at her home in Brooklyn, Iowa, on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 1921, being at the time of her death in her 86th year. She moved from Ohio to Illinois in 1853, when she was 18 years of age. On the 14th day of September, 1854, in Princeton, Ill., she was united in marriage with Mr. Luther Triplett. Ten children were born in this home, four of whom died in infancy. The surviving children are Frank, of Gowrie, Iowa; Howard of Grinnell, Iowa; Mrs. Fannie Littlefield of Lathrop, Mo.; Monsieur, of Brooklyn, Iowa; Aquila of Amarillo, Tex.; and Dr. Lou B., of Springfield, Mass. She is also survived by three brothers, John Ball of Putnam, Ill.; Jacob of Kearney, Neb.; Gromes M., of Deland, Fla.; and two sisters, Barbara Johnston of Ogden, Iowa; and Christena Siberts of Decatur, Ill. December 9, 1868, the family moved from Illinois, coming to Iowa and settling on a farm five miles northwest of Brooklyn. After 41 years on the farm, Mr. and Mrs. Triplett retired, coming to Brooklyn in 1909. Mr. Triplett's death occurred in 1912. Mrs. Triplett's health has been failing for some time. Mrs. Littlefield, her daughter, came last October to care for her mother. They spent the winter at the daughter's home in Missouri. The last of March they returned to Brooklyn. Thus for the last ten months she has been under the constant care of her daughter. Mrs. Triplett united with the Methodist church in Brooklyn by letter, June 9, 1912, during the pastorate of Rev. F.C. Edwards. She was a faithful attendant at church as long as health conditions would permit. It was a little past midnight when her spirit took its flight and she answered the summons, "It is enough, come up higher." Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. John W. Pool, her pastor. The pall bearers were the five sons and the son-in-law. The body was laid to rest in the Brooklyn Cemetery.
