Miss Bessie Herbek, sister of the groom, was the bride's attendant, and George Kotinek, brother of the bride, was best man. Dolly Kotinek, a sister of the bride, was flower girl and Everett Svoboda, a nephew, was ring bearer. A reception was held at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Jos. Herbek, during the day and a dance followed at the Deweese hall, Tuesday night, where a huge crowd gathered to enjoy the evening with the bridal party. The bride, a daughter of James Kotinek, was born and reared here and is a graduate of the Lawrence high. Mr. Herbek is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Herbek, prominent farmers east of Lawrence. Herbek was born on September 14, 1915 to James & Mary (Mazour) Kotinek at Lawrence, Nebraska. She departed this life at the age of 96 on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska. Cecelia married Albert L. Herbek, Sr., on April 6, 1937 at Lawrence. They farmed east of Lawrence until moving into town in 1981. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society and had volunteered at Sacred Heart Grade School for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter Jill Voorhees; great grandsons Brian Kathman and Derrick Faimon; brothers George & James Kotinek; sister Rose Herbek. She is survived by daughter Kathy & husband Bill Zuspan, Lincoln; sons Albert, Jr. & wife Marian, Lawrence, Richard & wife Ruth, Hastings; sister Ann Bieriger, Concord, California; sisters-in-law Bessie Reining, Hastings and Mary LaVern Herbek, Hastings; 13 Grandchildren; 28 Great-grandchildren, 2 Great-great grandchildren. Rosary was held on Monday, October 10, 2011, followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence, with Father Loras Grell and Monsignor Adrian Herbek Officiating. Burial was held in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Lawrence, Nebraska. A Memorial has been established. Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska was in charge of arrangements.
