Description	:	Rose Maria Herbek, the daughter of James J. and Mary (Mazour) Kotinek, was born on August 25, 1912 on a farm North East of Lawrence, Nebraska. She passed away on October 11, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 16 days. She was one of five children. Read More	Rose Maria Herbek, the daughter of James J. and Mary (Mazour) Kotinek, was born on August 25, 1912 on a farm North East of Lawrence, Nebraska. She passed away on October 11, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 16 days. She was one of five children. Rose was baptized on September 7, 1912 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence, Nebraska by Fr. Charles Becker. She grew up on the farm and attended grade school and graduated from Lawrence High School. On April 10, 1934 she was united in marriage to Joseph E. Herbek at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence, Nebraska. This union was blessed with two daughters. Rose was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society in Nelson. She enjoyed crafts and did a lot of crochet work. She taught in a rural school before her marriage. Rose worked in the Nelson Good Samaritan Center for many years as a CSM. Rose entered the Good Samaritan Center in August of 2004, where she resided until her death. Survivors include her daughers: Mary Sue Hackett and husband Jay of Greeley, Colorado; and Patricia Rose of Branson, Missouri; four granddaughters: Kristen Neuman of Larchmone, New York; Kerri Halpern of Purchase, New York; Kellie Klein of Winnetka, Illinois; and Anne Waddell of Memphis, Tennessee; one grandson; Joseph Rose of Charlotte, North Carolina; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Ceal Herbek of Lawrence, Nebraska; and Anne Beiriger of Concord, California; niece, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 10:30 AM from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nelson, Nebraska with Father Philip Luther and Msg. Adrian Herbek officiating. Lector was Jerome Mazour and altar servers were Russell Julin and Gage Biltoft. Rosary Service was at 10:00 AM, lead by Sister Rosaline Herbek. Music was provided by John Sullivan, soloist and Jim Spirk, organist. Her God-Children served as the pallbearers, they are: Sister Rosaline Herbek, Georgia Schroeder, Albert Herbek, Jr., Richard Herbek, Kathy Zuspan, and Robert Beiriger. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska. Memorial gifts may be made to the Brodstone Memorial Hospital for advancement of health care in care of Klawitter-Price Funeral Home, PO Box 282, Superior, NE 68978.
