Mr. Mahoney was born on July 28, 1918, in Anderson, S.C., a son of the late Eddie Frank Mahoney and Aquilla Compton Mahoney. He was a retired florist of 35 years in Lexington, and was a long-standing member of Lexington Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder until his declining health. Mr. Mahoney was born on July 28, 1918, in Anderson, S.C., a son of the late Eddie Frank Mahoney and Aquilla Compton Mahoney. He was a retired florist of 35 years in Lexington, and was a long-standing member of Lexington Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder until his declining health. He is survived by his wife, Sarah ("Lovey") Cook Mahoney of Lexington; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan Mahoney and Robert Moore Alexander of Seaford; a sister, Frances Mahoney Chittum of Richmond; a brother and sister-in-law, John H. and Dorothy Mahoney of Martinsville; a granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Alexander, and a grandson, Robert Moore Alexander II, both of Seaford, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 18, 1997, at 4 p.m., at the graveside in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, Lexington, with Dr. William Klein officiating. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends at their residence after the service.
