Stratford Courier December 3, 1942 Obituary Cecil Lundquist Cecil Leroy Lundquist was born March 9, 1902 at Dayton and died in the county hospital, Webster City, Nov. 22, 1942, at the age of 40 years, 8 months, 13 days. He lived at home, helping his father on the farm, until the spring of 1926 when he went to work as a telegraph lineman for the Rock Island railway. It was while working in that capacity that he was injured in October of the same year. He spent ten months in a hospital and from that time until his death had not enjoyed a single day free from pain. He suffered silent and uncomplainingly for which his family and friends honored him. He loved little children and the love and companionship of his three little nieces. He also loved music which helped him through his difficult days. His car was a prized possession because it enabled him to get around freely, despite his handicap. He leaves to mourn his death his brother and father, Mayor and Mrs. B.F. Lundquist, two sisters, Mrs. Eugene Boller of Beresford, S.Dak., and Mrs. Rollie Dutcher, of Dayton; three brothers, Allen, of Chicago, Ill., Maurice of Stratford, and Merle, of Dayton, and a very dear friend, Miss Hazel Barquist, also of Stratford, other relatives and many friends. One brother, Ralph, preceded him in death six years ago. He will be missed by those to whom he was most dear. Brief services were held in the home on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 24, in charge of the Rev. J.G. Waterman, after which services were held in Calvary Methodist church by the Rev. J.S. Hutchings, a former pastor, for whom Cecil felt a sincere friendship. He gave a very impressive funeral talk, the theme being "If a man died shall he live again?" A mixed quartette composed of J.H. Thurau, George Harrison, Miss Minnie Williams and Miss Ardis Hall sang, "City Four Square," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Under His Wings." Following the services the remains were laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery. The casket bearers were his three brothers, two brothers-in-law and a cousin, Bertram Anderson. Attending the services were relatives and friends from Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Williams, Dayton, Harcourt, Gowrie and Paton.
