On Monday last his remains were received by express, and in the afternoon funeral services held at the residence of his mother, Rev. Clark conducting the exercises. The deceased being a member of Dowdall Lodge Knights Of Pythias, the pall bearers were designated by the lodge. Rec. Clark read a letter giving the particulars of the death of Mr. Rumsey and then made most feeling and comforting remarks. There was a large attendance at the house, of friends who deeply sympathized with the bereaved mother and sister Clara. At the cemetery the Knights conducted their funeral service over the remains of their brother. Charles B. Rumsey was a young man well known in Denison, having grown up in our midst. He was a pretty boy, and a bright, intelligent young man. He was 22 years old last January. For some time he clerked in the drug store of Mr. Burk. Since last fall he has been in the same line of business at Newcastle, Wyoming. The following item taken from the News-Journal of that city explains the cause of death and gives interesting particulars: "Our community was shocked yesterday afternoon to learn of the sudden death of C.B. Rumsey, formerly drug clerk for D.W. Fawkes & Co., and later of the Sundance Drug Co. His death was caused by congestion of the lungs, he being of weak frame and subject to hemorrages. Drs. Horton and Morehead were in attendance, but could do nothing. He suffered no pain and was wholly unconscious. Although Mr. Rumsey had been in our midst but a short time, he had many friends. He was a member of Dowdall Lodge No. 90, K of P., Denison, Iowa, where his remains will be shipped for interment by K. of P. friends of Newcastle." He was given the best of care by members of the Knights of Pythias order. In a letter to friends two of the Knights write as follows, "Although our dead brother, Charles B. Rumsey, had been in our midst but a few months, he won the sincerest esteem and respect of those who knew him best, and to those whose hearts are bleeding our sincerest sympathies go out. During his last moments, unconscious to the last, every care was given him, and loving, sympathetic hands ministered to his dying wants. His friends were both shocked and grieved at his sudden demise, and in our heart of hearts we mourn the loss of this noble young standard bearer of the Pythias Knighthood."
