Read More	CHARLES "CHARLEY" McCOLERY The Death Angel hovered over Eckley for a fleeting moment Sunday morning, then struck swiftly and unexpectedly taking with him our good friend and fellow citizen Charles McColery. The end was sudden, at one moment a normal, apparently healthy and vigorous man going about his business in life with a smile and kind word for everybody, the next instant the shadows closed and engulfed him. He arose Sunday morning in the best of health and spirits and after a time about 9 o'clock in company with some boys, Ray Cowan, Ray Morris and Merle Morris cranked his car and started for the farm home of Sam Parker to aid in treating a sick horse. According to the boys with him, upon rounding the corner south of town he suddenly slumped down in the seat and the car, out of control started for the ditch. One of the boys, alarmed by his action, seized the steering wheel which brought the car back to the road and stopped the engine. Not being able to elicit any response from the stricken man they became frightened rushed back to town and reported the case. Doctor Hoschour hurried immediately to the scene and under after further examination reported that death was instantaneous due to heart trouble. The deceased was well known in Eckley and vicinity, coming here from Nebraska several years ago. Up to the hour of his death he had been engaged actively at his vocation as buyer of hides and furs, and had also been employed on various jobs of work in the city. His sudden death came as a great shock to everyone. No suspicion of disabling sickness was ever attached to him. In fact, he could perform extremely hard work and bear exposure better than the average man. He was a brother of Mrs. Crosby residing two and one-half miles south of Eckley. Age 39, married, tall, slender build, brown eyes, brown hair. He and Clara were living at 1105 South 8th in Beatrice. His occupation: "real estate for myself."
