He departed this life April 12, 1972, having reached the age of 43 years, 5 months and 7 days. Charles was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Raymond Thomas of Geneva. There were eight children in this home, of whom Charles was the youngest. He lived in the Geneva area all his life. He attended the Geneva public school and he worked at a number of jobs in and around Geneva, the last of which was for the Biba Construction Company. In October, 1966, Charles was married to Lorraine Tice of Fairmont. They had two children, a son, Gary, who is almost ready for kindergarten and a daughter, Christy, who is 15 months old. Charles and his family moved into their new home on 16th Street in Geneva about a year ago. At about this time he was found to be afflicted with Hodgkin’s disease. He was in and out of the hospital, mostly the Veteran’s hospital, Lincoln, ever since the disease was discovered, and while it seemed at times that the doctors were checking the progress of the disease, yet the cure for this is apparently still in the future. He passed away at the Veteran’s hospital, Wednesday morning, April 12, 1972. He leaves his wife Lorraine; one son Gary, one daughter, Christy; also one brother, Harold of Exeter, and six sisters, Anna Miles of Ontario, Ore., Edna Snodgrass of Fairmont, Ferne Bracy of Oscaloosa, Ia., Daisy Keil of Melba, Idaho, Dorothy Petersen of Grafton and Mae de of Carrollton, Tex. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer-Harris Funeral home in Geneva at 2 p. m. Friday, April 14, with Rev. Albert Gaeddert of Faith Mennonite church officiating. Sheldon Johnson of Geneva, accompanied by Mrs. Johnson sang “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” and “Beyond the Sunset.” Pallbearers were James Brumbaugh, Bernard Heironymus, Richard Petersen, Jack Snodgrass, Jerry Snodgrass and Jim Snodgrass.
