Music was by recordings and the pall bearers wee Noble Linrooth, Artie Fisher, Vernon Fisher, Carl Finkle, Ronald Overman, Russell Henry. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Charles McCarty, son of Daniel and Jane McCarty, was born March 6, 1858 in Richway County, Ohio and died March 23, 1953 at the Armstrong Nursing Home in Bedford, Iowa. He was 95 years old at his death and was the last one of 12 children. He came to Iowa in 1863 with his parents and grew to manhood in Brooks. He was married to Matilda Cohoon in 1890 and to this union were born five children. They are William McCarty, Mrs. Amy Mattson, Mrs. Fay Williams, Mrs. Helen Lewis, and Mrs. Frank Heatherington. Mr. McCarty's parents, four brothers and seven sisters,his wife and two daughters preceded him in death, He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fay Williams of Red Oak and Mrs, Frank Heatherington of Gravity, 14 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and one great grand child.
