Penwell, accompanied by Frances Gray and the pall bearers were Bert Reynolds, Claude McMilland, Homer Walker, Ronald Colman, Carl Finkle, and George . Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. Matilda Ellen McCarthy, daughter of Charles and Marie Cohoon, was born March 14, 1865 in Joilet, Illinois and died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ruth Wires in Villisca, January 8, 1948. When a small child she with her parents moved to Mt. Are and later to Villisca, where she spent the remainder of her girlhood. Here on September 7, 1890, she was joined in marriage to Charles McCarty and to this union five children were born. One son and two daughters preceded two daughters, Mrs. Amy and Mrs. Hallene Lewis preceded her in death. Two daughters, Mrs. Fay Williams of Villisca and Mrs. Frank Heatherington of Bedford, their father, survive. She is survived also by her sister and a brother of Villisca, fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
