He passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 26 days. Don graduated from Nelson High School in 1933. To... Read More	Charles Donald Doher, 86, the son of Roy Steven and Lula (Trussell) Doher, was born April 4, 1915 on a farm near Franklin, Nebraska. He passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 26 days. Don graduated from Nelson High School in 1933. He served in the U.S. Army as an engineer in the Philippines and Japan during World War II from 1943-1946. September 28, 1947, Don was united in marriage to Winona Ruth Batie at Lexington, Nebraska. To this union four children were born. He operated a grain business and petroleum transport company in Nelson and Davenport. Upon his retirement from the grain business, Don and Winona purchased the Plains Motel in Superior in 1988. He was a member of the Nelson Community Church of Christ, the Nelson Masonic Lodge No. 77, Nelson Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He also was a member of the Tehama Shrine of Hastings, the Superior Elks Lodge No. 2197 and was an honorary and charter member of Silver Wings Fraternity, a flying organization. Preceding him in death were his parents, one adopted son, Stanley Doher; one daughter, Luann (Doher) Wilson; one granddaughter, Charissa Wilson; and one brother, Steven T. Doher. Survivors include his wife, Winona of Lincoln; two sons, Robert Doher and his wife, Pamela, of Alvo and Sidney Doher and his wife, Mary, of Lincoln; one daughter, Connie Hood and her husband, Thomas, of Hallam; one sister, Patricia Thayer of Nelson; eight grandchildren, Bryan Doher and his wife, Donna, and Debra Jones and her husband, David, of Phoenix, Arizona, Colby Hood and his wife, Jennifer, of Crete, and Chelsea Hood, Nathan, Jason, Nicholas and Jared Doher, all of Lincoln; one great-grandson, Byron Hood of Crete. Funeral services were Saturday, February 2, 2002, at 10 p.m. at Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson with Royce Schott officiating. Music was "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden" with Dave Biehl as soloist and Carlita Price as organist. Burial was in Nelson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Colby Hood, Nathan Doher, Jason Doher, Nicholas Doher, Mike Thayer and Dick Thayer. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of arrangements.
