THE CHARITON HERALD Chariton, Iowa Thursday, January 16, 1890 MEMORIAL Charles E. Harvey was born in Coles Co., Ill., Jan. 6th, 1868, died Jan. 9th, 1890, age 22 yrs, 3 ds. Was converted Nov. 1889. On the day of his conversion he said he had read in Revelations where it says God will wipe away all tears from our eyes. He then said "God has wiped all tears from my eyes. He called many of his young friends around him and warned them not to put off their soul's salvation as he did. He also said he could not rest here. When asked where he could rest, he said, "In heaven." In the morning before he passed away, when asked how he was he said, "I feel bad; I want to see Jesus." About one hour before he died he said he wished he was in glory. He said his sickness was all for the better. He bore his affliction with patience and was ever looking forward to the time when the Lord would call him from labor to reward. We all hoped he would be given back to us to help us in the vineyard of the Lord, but not so; we are willing to say "Thy will, oh Lord, not ours be done. The funeral services took place at the house at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 11th on account of the storm that was raging without. There was quite a number of friends present. I. N. Cronk took charge of the services. Bro. John Crawford sang a song entitled " Why mourn the parted friend," and led in prayer; also a prayer by I. N. Cronk. Then we sang the song, "Meet me there." The text used is found in Revelation 14-13. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from thenceforth; yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them." After which we took our last look at Charlie. How calmly he was resting, with such a smile on his face, which add to the other testimonies that he was at rest. He leaves father and mother, two brothers and two sisters with many friends to mourn his loss. May the great God of peace comfort them in their hours of trial. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the kind friends who have aided in the hours of sore affliction, which lasted 10 weeks and 2 days. I. N. Cronk, Pastor of U. B. Church, Norwood, Ia.
