Knill Jr., 90, of Clarksburg, died on Sunday June 11, 2006, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick. He was the husband of Mary Knill. Born November 7, 1915, in Sellman, Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles E. Sr. and Addie Keefer Knill. Mr. Knill was raised on the family dairy farm in Sellman, where he started work shortly after the eighth grade. He was destined to farm. His whole life was focused around agriculture in Upper Montgomery County. Mr. Knill married Ann Shannon and worked for a short time for the Capital Transit Authority as a mechanic and bus driver. He came back to farming when his father sold the family farm to the Bazy McCormick Tankersley family and they found a need for a farm manager. He worked in this position successfully for many years. He was a longtime member of both the Monocacy Lions Club and the Poolesville band where he played the drums. He was also an avid football and baseball fan and loved to dance. Surviving, besides his wife, are three children, Carolyn Meggitt of California, Christine Roderiques of Massachusetts and Charles "Rush" Knill of West Virginia; four sisters, Edna O'Hara of Frederick, Betty Newberry of Georgia, Nellie Crutchley of Frederick and Barbara Spivey of Frederick; one brother, William Knill of Frederick; two grandchildren, Brandon and Jessica; and two great-grandchildren, Trey and Angelo. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Shannon Knill, and three brothers, John, Frank and Elbert Knill. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 19, at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. Interment will follow in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monocacy Lions Club, P.O. Box 537, Poolesville, MD 20837.
