Read More	VULCAN FUNERAL HOME -OBIT EXCERPTS Fulton, Charles Edward “Charlie passed away peacefully May 13, 2008 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 96 years. Charlie was born August 18, 1911 at Vulcan, Alberta to John and Minnie Fulton. Upon graduating high school he continued to normal school in Calgary gaining his teaching certificate. Some of the schools Charlie taught at were Midnapore, Reid Hill and Brant where he was principal. In 1941 Charlie signed up with R.C.A.F and served overseas in England as a Radar Signal Receiver until returning home in 1945. He purchased a half of his brother Roy’s business at the Red and White Store in Vulcan mostly working as a book keeper/accountant. When the store was sold Charlie worked for Ron Gorzitza at the UFA, Roger Middleton at the Abattoir and Max Jess at the John Deere dealership. He also worked for a short while at the Alberta Hail and Crop Insurance. Charlie was the Town’s representative on the Hospital Board from 1965 to 1969 and in 1970 became the Administrator of the Vulcan Hospital for one year. Upon retirement Charlie sold his house and moved into the Peter Dawson Lodge. He was one of their first residents and continued to reside there for the past 24 years until his passing. Charlie loved to travel, took many cruises and drove friends to the world series baseball game numerous times. He loved base ball and played as a left handed pitcher on the local team. Charlie enjoyed playing crib and golf. He was a founding member of the Vulcan Golf and Country Club where he served as secretary for many terms. This past year he opened the New Nine in a official opening ceremony. Charlie was also a member of Vulcan Lions Club. He had a tremendous memory and could recall not only his nieces and nephews names but their birthdays as well. Charlie was easy to talk to and enjoyed visiting with anyone. Charlie is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie is predeceased by his parents, five sisters and four brothers.
