Read More	Charles Fleener Dec 28, 1860-Nov 11, 1934 Charles Fleener, 73, long-time resident of Cedar county, farmer and business man, passed away at the Methodist hospital, Sioux City, at 12:30 Sunday, November 11. Mr. Fleener was eating ice cream as the dessert for his Sunday dinner when the Death Angel beckoned, and he passed peacefully away. At the time of his death, his daughters, Esther and Mrs. Reginald Rose, and sister, Mrs. Vera Ballard, were on their way to Sioux City to visit him. In the passing of Mr. Fleener the community lost a worthwhile citizen, a man who was always on the square with his fellow men, a friend of young and old, a man who was true to his beliefs. Mr. Fleener was always active in town and community affairs. At one time he was a member of the board of village trustees. Since the death of Mrs. Fleener he had assumed a double responsibility in the home, and successfully reared the family aside from his business duties. Charles Fleener, son of Isaac and Parmelia Fleener, was born near Pleasant Grove, Iowa December 28, 1860, moving to Page county, Iowa in September 1874. He was married to Abbie Lamborn April 17, 1889. In the spring of 1890 they came to the farm northeast of Coleridge where he and his wife lived until her death April 28, 1908. In October, 1908, he purchased the Coleridge telephone exchange and with the children moved into their present home. To this union eight children were born: Henry, who died in infancy; Mabel, Clarence, Mrs. Effie Rose, John, William and Esther, of Coleridge; and Mrs. Clara Freiburghouse of Modesto, Calif. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Vena Ballard and Mrs. William Lamborn, and 13 grandchildren, one, Shirley Rose, having preceded him in death two years ago, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the house, followed by services at the Congregational church, Rev. Wm. S. Rowden officiating. Mr. Fleener had been a member of the church since its organization, having transferred his memberhip from the old Presbyterian church. He was a Master Mason by Relief Lodge No. 219 March 1, 1912, which had charge of the ceremonies at the grave. Interment was made in the Coleridge cemetery.
