Description	:	Lorinda Eleanor Fleener was born near Pleasant Grove, Des Moines County in eastern Iowa on February 20, 1858, the daughter of Isaac and Permelia (Gallaher) Fleener. Siblings included John, Charles, Lavinia, and Jane. The family lived in Des Moines county until she was 16 years old when, in 1874, with her family, she moved to Page County, Iowa. Read More	Lorinda Eleanor Fleener was born near Pleasant Grove, Des Moines County in eastern Iowa on February 20, 1858, the daughter of Isaac and Permelia (Gallaher) Fleener. Siblings included John, Charles, Lavinia, and Jane. The family lived in Des Moines county until she was 16 years old when, in 1874, with her family, she moved to Page County, Iowa. On August 28, 1876, when Lorinda was 18 years old, she married D. E. Crosthwait. He was 21. The couple had 2 children, Vernon and Iona before they divorced. Vernon went to live with his father, and Iona stayed with her mother. On January 18, 1893, Lorinda married a second time to Charles DeKay. The following spring, they moved to Alma, Harlan County, Nebraska, where they lived until January 1900, when they moved to Coleridge, Nebraska. Lorinda and Charles became parents to three sons, two who grew to adulthood. Sons were: Elmer (1893-1967), Lester (1895-1899), and Carl (1898-1977). Lorinda and Charles lived in Nebraska, where they raised their family. In 1917, after youngest son, Carl's graduation from high school, Charles bought a farm back in Iowa, where he had been raised, and they moved there to farm with Carl. Charles and Lorinda lived with Carl and his wife, Lois (Mewhirter) for several years before moving to the town of Red Oak, Iowa. Lorinda contracted the flu in early January of 1923, and never fully recovered her health. In the spring, suffering from asthma, she went to stay with and be cared for her daughter, Iona, in Nebraska. Lorinda died at her daughter's home in Nebraska. She had reportedly attended a fair that day, and ate a hot dog, claiming it was the best thing she had ever tasted. Later that night, she had a heart attack. Lorinda had "united with the United Presbyterian Church at Pleasant Grove in early girlhood, always living a true Christian life. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Presbyterian church at Red Oak, Iowa. She left "her husband and one daughter, three sons, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, two brothers, John Fleener of Seward, Nebr. and Charles of Coleredge Nebraska, and two sisters, Mrs. V.E. Ballard of Norfolk, Nebraska and Mrs. W. H. Lamborn of Coleridge, besides a great many other relatives and friends to mourn her departure from this life. Funeral services were held from the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Willey, June 24, 1923 and interment was made int he Coleridge cemetery by the side of their infant son."
