Frank wanted Johnny to get well so he gave him a generous dose of horse medicine, which John barely survived. Frank was called "Doc' for years after that. 1900 - Riverside Township, Fremont County, Iowa. In 1904, Frank and John, with their families, moved to Holden, Missouri. Doris tells that the children played one afternoon in a box of hay, and later a nest of copperheads was found under the hay. Irene Fite recalled a visit her family made to Holden; she and some cousins plugged all the watermelons in the patch, looking for a ripe one. In February or March, 1907, Frank and John moved to Elliott, Iowa, and became partners in the Jones-Walker Mercantile Company. The other partner was M. I. Walker is traveling this week in the interests of the Knights of the Macabees. Somewhere along the way, Frank worked for a time for the Benshoof brickyard. For years, he was employed by the Petty Seed Corn Company. In 1919, the Walker family moved to Omaha, and Frank worked for the street car company for 25 years. After Alpha died, he went to southern California where his daughter Edna lived. 1920 - Omaha Ward 3, Douglas County, Nebraska In January 1949 Charles was living in/near Huntington Beach, California. Frank loved horse racing, and made several trips to the Kentucky Derby. On one such occasion, he had his pocket picked. He was embarrassed about it, and didn't mention it to Edna and Frank, thinking that they would pay the expenses of the trip home. Then he discovered that the Heeneys had lost all their money betting on the wrong horses, and were expecting him to get them home. The hungry group barely made it back to Omaha by using the money Mary Frances had in her purse to buy gas. When he was past eighty, Frank was in a bookie joint when it was raided, and he spent the night in jail. After that, he lost interest in horses.
