Description	:	Charles F. Parker was the only living son [in 1890] of James H. Parker (1829-1869), a master mariner on a merchant coasting vessel "Abbie Bursley". His father James, was a son of James, whose father David, was a son of Daniel and grandson of immigrant Robert Parker. Charles was born in Osterville, MA on Sept. 21, 1854, and lived in the Barnstable area for his entire life. Charles was born in Osterville, MA on Sept. 21, 1854, and lived in the Barnstable area for his entire life. Charles F. was a merchant in Harwich from 1875 to 1877, when he removed to Osterville, where he carried on a general store. He was town clerk of Barnstable from March, 1885 through 1900. His wife Emma, is a daughter of Thomas Matthews, of Yarmouth. (excerpted from Deyo's History of Barnstable) A store ledger begun Sept. 1st, 1879 reflects dry goods transactions through January 1880 in Osterville. The ledger was later used by sons Henry & Lovell Parker to press leaves (probably ca. 1890's). Charles died Jan 5, 1904, and his will dated 29 May 1903 references wife Caroline A. Parker,(whom he married after his first wife Emma's death in 1898) and sons Henry M. and Lovell H. Caroline was the mother of the wife-to-be of Charles' son, Henry, who married her daughter Charlotte in 1904.
