After an illness of Appendicitis of only a few hours, followed by an operation at the General & Marine Hospital in this city, Mr. Chas. H. Bedsworth, one of the most prominent residents of the community, died at an early hour last Sunday morning. Mr. Bedsworth was removed to the hospital Saturday afternoon after being stricken in the morning. He underwent the operation Saturday night, death resulting a few hours later. The death of Charles H. Bedsworth came as a great shock to the entire community. No man was better known in lower Somerset county, and no man held in higher esteem by all who enjoyed his acquaintanceship. A merchant in the Mariners section of Crisfield, at Bedsworth, the settlement which bore his family name, a Judge of the Orphans Court for Somerset county and a prominent Republican leader, Mr. Bedsworth has for years, been actively identified with the public, political and business life of the county. He was a man of high character, warm-hearted and generous to a fault---a valuable citizen whose death is a distinct loss to the community and county. Mr. Bedsworth was an influential member of Mariners M. P. Church, a member of the Official Board and a Parsonage trustee. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows and Modern Woodmen. He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Cornelia Bedsworth, and three children, Mr. Ulmont Bedsworth, Mr. Henry Bedsworth and Mrs. Lillian Nelson, all of this city. Funeral services were held from his late home on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. M. Adams, pastor of Mariners Church, and Rev. F. K. McCorkle of Hampton, Va. the remains were laid to rest in the family burial ground. the floral tributes were among the most elaborate ever seen in Crisfield, and but reflected in a slight degree the high esteem in which he was held by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
