Description	:	Charles H. Herrick was born at South Warren, Bradford County, Penn., Feb. 2, 1859. He died at Creighton, Nebr., July 20, 1920 at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 18 days, after suffering a long illness. Mr. Herrick came to Nebraska in the early eighties, being one of the oldest settlers in Knox County. He married Clara Belle Raike July 3, 1883. To this union 4 children were born, Mrs. Grace B. Herrick was born at South Warren, Bradford County, Penn., Feb. 2, 1859. He died at Creighton, Nebr., July 20, 1920 at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 18 days, after suffering a long illness. Mr. Herrick came to Nebraska in the early eighties, being one of the oldest settlers in Knox County. He married Clara Belle Raike July 3, 1883. To this union 4 children were born, Mrs. Grace B. Salyers of Omaha, Mrs. Laura Herrington of Chadron, Orland R. Herrick of Shawnee, Wyoming and Gerald W. Herrick, who is at home. Mr. Herrick has one brother, Edgar M. who lives at Creighton. There is one grandson, Charles Junior, son of Orland. Mr. Herrick homesteaded a claim 2 miles north and east of here where he lived many years, later he sold and bought his present farm of 442 acres at Monowi, Nebr., where he was very successful in the stock business until his failing health compelled him to retire from active life. He then moved to Wyoming for a short time, later coming to Creighton and purchasing a comfortable home of 5 acres, where he resided at the time of his death. Mr. Herrick spent many efforts in seeking medical aid, first going to Rochester, Minn., to the Mayo's where they diagnosed the case as cancer of the stomach, he then took treatment of a noted cancer specialist in Kansas City, all of which proved to be of no avail, so he came back to his old home to spend his remaining days with his relatives and old friends. Mr. Herrick was highly esteemed by all who knew him, being a man upright and honest in all business dealings. He was known among his friends and relatives as a man of cheerful and loving disposition and all will miss him in their midst. He has always been a Methodist in faith, was baptized and taken into the church, a true Christian in the departing hours. The funeral services were held in the M.E. church by Rev.
