Description	:	Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church for Charles Higgins, 78, who died Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Russell Winter, northeast of Villisca. The Rev. E. M. Buehler conducted the services and the Pitman Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.Pall bearers were Clint Powers, Quincy Dunn, Frank Query, Don Anderson, Fred Lincoln, and Raymond Crouse, and the singing was by Mrs. A. Mr. Higgins lived in the Villisca vicinity for many years. The son of Francis and Mary Jane Higgins, he was born in a log cabin in Page County, four miles southwest of Villisca on April 24, 1863. He was one of a family of eight children, six of whom preceded him in death. On January 30, 1895, he was married to Mary Olive Day, who died July 28, 1933. They had two children, both of whom are living, Mrs. Inez Bean of Kansas City, Missouri and Mrs. Dorothy Winter of Villisca. The deceased spent his life with the exception of one year in Nebraska, in the Villisca vicinity. He was a member of the local Methodist Church. Villisca Review, Thursday, December 25, 1941, page 4
