Description	:	Mrs. Charles Higgins, 60, a resident of Villisca for many years, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Russell Winter of two miles northeast of Villisca. Mrs. Higgins had been in ill health for several years and during the last six weeks had been cared for at her daughter’s home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Pastor Rev. Pall bearers were nephews of Mrs. Higgins, Leonard and Gerald Penwell, Dennis Wilson, Robert Brown, and Claude and Elmo Day. Burial was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Mrs. Higgins body was taken Tuesday morning to the Meyerhoff & Pitman funeral home where it remained until the hour of the funeral. Mary Olive Day, daughter of Edward and Rachel Day, was born November 20, 1972 in Macon County, Missouri. She came to Iowa with her parents when 2 years old and moved to Page County, Iowa, when a young woman. She attended school in Cedar Falls, Iowa and for a number of years taught school in Mapleton, Iowa and in that section of the state. On January 30, 1895 she was married to Charles Higgins. To this union two daughters were born, Inez and Dorothy. The family has lived in Villisca and the surrounding territory all these years. Mrs. Higgins was reared in a friends home and as a small girl united with the Friends Church. In recent years she has been a faithful member of the Villisca Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors and the G.A.R. circle. She is survived by her husband and two daughter, Mrs. Inez Bean of Des Moines, and Mrs. Russell Winter of Villisca, and by thee brothers and three sisters, who are, Sam Day, Lincoln, Nebraska, Tom Day, Carie, Day, and Mrs. E. C. Brown of Villisca; Mrs. Dave Penwell, Elliott, and Mrs. Lewis Wilson, Clarinda.
