Pittman, Homestake Veteran who was found dead in his room at the Highland Hotel, Lead, at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at McColley Mortuary Chapel in Lead. Pittman’s body was found Sunday by the Hotel management who investigated his room after he had not been seen for several days. County Coroner G.H. Miller and Lawrence County Sheriff Dick McGrath who were called to investigate termed Pittman died of natural causes. It was believed Mr. Pittman had died on Friday. He was born on Dec. 6, 1877, in Atchinson, Kan., where he was raised and received his education. He was a veteran of the Spanish American Wars, a member of the Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Homestake Veteran’s Association, and the Black Hills Rod and Gun Club. He has lived in Lead the past 43 years. Surviving relatives include a son, T.R. Pittman, Lead; a son, Raymond C. Pittman, Fairbanks, Alaska, and a daughter, Mrs. Ray F. Harry, Northway, Alaska. Five grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Royer, Roseburg, Ore., also survive. The family requests that no flowers be sent to the funeral, which will be conducted by the Rev. Paul E. Parker of the Lead Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers will be Ted Oates, Charles Cowan, Millard Parker, Ray Seyhers, Albert Schieke and Charles Binney. Pittman, Homestake Veteran who died Friday in Lead. The rites were held at the McColley Mortuary chapel with the Rev. Paul E. Park of the Presbyterian Church in charge. During the services Mrs. N.W. Stewart, accompanied by Mrs. W.J. Schoen, sang "The City Foursquare" and "Abide With Me."
