Bob Kracht will officiate, with burial in Beaver View Cemetery in rural Crofton. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton. Charles Lavern Kracht went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 7, 2018, at the age of 93. Lavern was born on October 10, 1924, to Charles and Josie (Merchen) Kracht, on a farm northwest of Crofton, Nebraska. His family lived on various farms for 10 years in South Dakota before his Dad purchased a farm seven miles west of Crofton. Lavern attended rural schools and graduated from Crofton High School in 1942. On May 2, 1948, he was united in marriage to Delores Swanson of Wausa, Nebraska. They were blessed with four children, Robert, Patricia, Judy, and James. Lavern was faithful in taking his family to all church services. He was instrumental in the beginning of Bible Gospel Church in Bloomfield, Nebraska in 1954. It later moved to a country church four miles west of Crofton, and is now called Community Bible Church. Lavern also assisted in the beginning of Glad Tidings Bible Camp in 1956 by helping put up buildings on the 15 acres of his Dad’s pasture land that he had donated to the camp. After farming west of Crofton for 25 years, Lavern and Delores moved to Creighton, Nebraska. They joined Grace Bible Church and Lavern served on the church council. Lavern worked at West Lumber Yard in Creighton and at Creighton Livestock Market until 2002. He enjoyed his garden and was always ready to help in harvesting it. His favorite pastime was reading and being with his family. Lavern is survived by his wife of 70 years, Delores; his four children and their spouses, Robert (Barb) Kracht of Edinburg, Texas, Patricia (Jerry) Purviance of Kansas City, Missouri, Judy (Mark) Keck of Crofton, Nebraska, and James (Diane) Kracht of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys (Wilferd) Thiessen of White Water, Kansas; and sister-in-law, Marlene Kracht at Creighton Care Centre. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ernest; sisters, Vivian (Dale) Holan of Creighton and Arlene (Robert) Bartlett of Omaha, Nebraska; and two sisters in infancy.
