He was a breeder of Registered Herefords and Hampshire hogs. He was a member of the American Hereford Association and Knights of Columbus. Charles passed away on April 18, 1956. After the sale of Charles' herd of Hereford cattle, Marcella moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and later returned to Atlantic, Iowa. She passed away on April 12, 1985, at the Exira Care Center, where she had made her home for two years. The Ansteys were members of the Reno Catholic Church and are both buried at the cemetery there. Anstey, 56, widely known Hereford breeder, who lived southwest of Massena, died Wednesday at 11 p.m. at an Omaha hospital, where he had been a patient the past eight weeks. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Timothy Catholic church at Reno with the Rev. M. J. Flood officiating. The body will be at the Roland funeral home, where the Rosary will be recited Thursday and Friday evenings at 8 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Timothy cemetery at Reno. Mr. Anstey was the son of George J. and Ada Louise Alway Anstey and was born October 2, 1898 in Edna township, Cass county, southwest of Massena. He lived all his life on farms in that area and was married to Marcella Sarah Hatton October 14, 1919 at St. Patrick's church in Corning. Mr. Anstey had bene in business with his father and after his father's death he took over the cattle business which is the oldest and largest purebred Hereford herd in Iowa. Mr. Anstey was a member of St. Timothy church at Reno. Surviving are his wife; six sons, Edward E. Anstey of Pierre, South Dakota, Charles J. Anstey Jr., Leo H. Anstey, Thomas George Anstey, and Robert John Anstey, all of Massena, and Larry L. Anstey of Visila, California; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Sarah Carper of Burbank, California, Mrs. Geraldine Ada Kommes of Exira, and Mrs. Rita Worthington, Audubon; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. John Anstey and George J. Anstey of Massena; and four sisters, Nell Anstey of Atlantic, Mrs. Florence Spies of Anita, Mrs. Kathleen Kordick of Des Moines, and Mrs. M. E. Dunn, Roseville, California. He was preceded in death by two brothers, L. R. and George James Anstey and two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Jennings and Ada Louise Anstey.
