Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Charles M. Curtis, the son of Harold and Marian (Conant) Curtis, was born April 12, 1938 on a farm west of Churdan. He died Jan. 16, 2002, as a result of a pickup truck accident north of Jefferson. Charles attended school and graduated from Churdan High in 1956 as salutatorian of his class. He attended one year of college at Iowa State in Ames and then returned to Churdan to pursue his lifelong career of raising and breeding hogs. On April 22, 1956, Charles Curtis was united in marriage to Lois Legore at the bride's home near Churdan. To this union were born three children. The couple made their home on a farm west of Churdan and raised their family and operated their hog business. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church in Churdan. He was a former member of the Churdan Lions Club. As a hog producer, Charles was a member of Greene county, state and national pork producer organizations and a member of various other breeders associations, in all of which he took an active interest. Survivors include his wife Lois; three children, Stan and his wife Cathy of Ames and their two children Megan and Rachel, Kent and his wife Danille of Paton and their son Travis, and Jill Fischer and her husband Alan of Pittsburgh, PA, and their children Christopher and Alex; and one sister, Marjorie Fiscus and her husband Dwayne of Churdan. His parents preceded him in death.
