Description	:	Charles M. Grossman was born in Morgan county, Illinois, February 25, 1843; departed this life at the home of his son Emory W. five miles south of Edgar on December 31, 1921, age 78 years, 10 months, 6 days. On August 12, 1862, he joined the army serving with Co. G 101 Ills until the close of the conflict. He was with Sherman on his famous march to the sea. Mr. Grossman was united in marriage to Elizabeth Poland, February 27, 1873. The wife passed to the beyond March 13, 1916. Five children were born to this... Read More	Charles M. Grossman was born in Morgan county, Illinois, February 25, 1843; departed this life at the home of his son Emory W. five miles south of Edgar on December 31, 1921, age 78 years, 10 months, 6 days. On August 12, 1862, he joined the army serving with Co. G 101 Ills until the close of the conflict. He was with Sherman on his famous march to the sea. Mr. Grossman was united in marriage to Elizabeth Poland, February 27, 1873. The wife passed to the beyond March 13, 1916. Five children were born to this union: Oliver M., Emory W., Anna L., Leslie A. and Elsie M. All survive the father, except one, Anna L. whose death occurred March 4, 1909. Eleven grand children, one sister and one brother survive him. The brother resides in Illinois and the sister in Oklahoma. At an early age he united with M.E. church, remembering the words of the wise man: Ecc. 12, 1: "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them." He moved from Illinois in 1879 and with his wife and three children settled on his farm south of Edgar, where he lived until 1910, retiring then, he moved to Angus, where he lived until the death of his wife. Since that time he had made his home with the children who all reside near Angus. From the home of his son Emory, on the 31st of December, his spirit took flight to be reunited with those who have gone before. His body will rest in the Edgar cemetery and await the last bugle and answer the final roll call. Rev. Etherton of the . (sic) B. church of Angus conducted the funeral.
