Nadim Salkaly officiating. Mrs. Mabel Dunn accompanied Mrs. Carolyn Harris in the selections, “Be Still My Soul”. Flower bearers were Myrtle Morgan and Frances Gray. Casket bearers were Bill Findley, Glen Findley, Jim Milligan, Harry Weaver, Max Roberts, and Clifford Stein. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Charles rain Doan, son of Charles and Minnie Doan was born at Red Oak, Iowa on May 30, 1879. The family lived on a farm north of Villisca, where Charles grew to manhood. Charles was united in marriage to Kate Matthaei on February 26, 1911, at Villisca, Iowa. To this union were born three children, twin boys, Clarence and Lawrence and Glen. Clarence died at the age of 12. Mr. and Mrs. Doan and children farmed north of Villisca in the Sciola Community until 1937 when Mr. Doan retired from farming and with his wife moved to Red Oak. In 2958 they moved to Villisca. Charles was preceded in death by his son, Clarence, his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Kate, two sons, Glen of Nodaway and Lawrence of Bakersfield, California, two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. On Friday, February 23, 1968, Charles M. Doan passed day at the age of 88, at the West Portal Nursing Home, Clarinda, where he had resided since August 1966. Villisca Review, Villisca, Iowa, Thursday, February 29, 1968, page 4
