Kate Frances Doan, daughter of Carl and Emma Matthaei was born at Fairfax, Iowa, on October 5, 1885. The family moved to a farm north of Villisca, where Kate grew to womanhood. Kate was united in marriage to Charles M. Dunn on February 26, 1911, at Villisca, Iowa. To this union three children were born, twin sons, Clarence and Laurence and Glen. Mr. and Mrs. Doan farmed north of Villisca in the Sciola community until 1937 when they moved to Red Oak. In 1958, they moved to Villisca. Kate was preceded in death by her husband, son Clarence and her parents. She is survived by two sons, Glen of Villisca, and Laurence of Bakersfield, California, two grandchildren, Jean Hofer of Minneapolis and Charles of Villisca and five great grandchildren.
