Milton Anderson, 50, Homestake employee, died unexpectedly Friday evening at the mining company hospital after suffering a heart attack. Anderson was stricken about midafternoon and entered at the hospital. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at First Methodist Church, Lead, with Rev. John De Vries, officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain Lawn cemetery, Lead, under the direction of McColley-Daniel Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Sunday until 11 a.m. Monday. He was born March 13, 1921 at Beresford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Anderson. He started work for the Homestake Mining Co., Aug. 9, 1956 in the mine department and on June 1, 1968 was transferred to the mechanical department where he was employed at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, the former Ruth D. Henriksen, Lead; three sons, Richard, serving in the Coast Guard and stationed at Alameda, Calif.; Randall, Danny, both residing at home; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Linda) Carsten, Copperas Cove, Texas; one granddaughter and his father, residing in Vancouver, Wash. He was preceded in death by his mother. Lead Daily Call, Monday, October 4, 1971, page 6: Milton Anderson Funeral Is Held Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in Lead for C. Milton Anderson, who died unexpectedly Friday of a heart attack. Rev. John De Vries officiated at the final rites held at the United Methodist Church. Music was provided by Mrs. Richard Tinker, who sang "Still, Still With Thee" and "The Lord Is My Shepherd." Mrs. Joe Fraser was the accompanist. Serving as pallbearers were Donald Brand, Reno Rantapaa, Guy Carsten, Wayne Harford, Robert Fuhs and Kenneth Westphal. All other friends were considered honorary bearers. Interment was in the Mountain Lawn cemetery, Lead, under the direction of the McColley-Daniel Funeral Home. A memorial has been established for the church. Anderson is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Henriksen, to whom he was married at the Komstead Church in Union County, June 19, 1949. Also surviving are three sons, one daughter, a granddaughter and his father. Mrs. Anderson's father, Fred Henriksen, brother, Steve Henriksen, Beresford; her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Henriksen, Worthing; her brothers-in-law and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Art Lubben, Kansas City, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Rol Mommer, Topeka, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Konechne, Kimball; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Gray, Garden City, Kan.; her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Henriksen, Wenona, Ill. and her son-in-law's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Carsten, Rapid City. Still at home in Lead are sons, Randall and Danny Anderson.
