Paul Johnson, Methodist pastor, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were Matt Brennan, Douglas Brennan, H. V. Cooke, Merle Naugle, Francis Murphy and Carl Sobkyoweak. Mr. Murray was born Aug. 30, 1882, the son of the late William and Ellen Murray, of Ridgedale, Iowa. He located in Emmetsburg 35 years ago, coming here from Granger. On June 30, 1917, he married Miss Susan Walker of Des Moines. He is survived by his wife and three sisters, Mrs. Ora Kathman of Minnesota, Mrs. Paul Bias of Des Moines, and Mrs. Buelah Wells of California, and four brothers. They are J. W. and Allen Murray of Graettinger, Floyd Murray of Fort Dodge and Carl Murray of Madrid. Although Charles Murray was physically handicapped he never lost his cheerful outlook on life. The operator of an oil station at the curye west of Emmetsburg, he was known by many motorists as "the man who always waved a greeting" as they passed by. He had been in failing health for a number of months. Mr. Murray lost both feet in 1927 when he was caught out in a blizzard near Osgood. He was driving a team of horses, taking a load of corn to the Osgood elevator, when the storm overtook him and his team would not face the blizzard. Mr. Murray's feet were frozen in the extreme cold and later gangrene set in and amputation of both feet were necessary. Mrs. Murray has taken over operation of the filling station.
