Description	:	Charles S. Ashley Dies Here Sunday Charles Scandrett Ashley died at his home at Twelfth and Orchard Avenue at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Kinsey Funeral home is in charge of funeral arrangements, to be announced later. Mr. Ashley was born June 4, 1888, at Saguache, to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel W. Ashley. Ashley Dies Here Sunday Charles Scandrett Ashley died at his home at Twelfth and Orchard Avenue at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Kinsey Funeral home is in charge of funeral arrangements, to be announced later. Mr. Ashley was born June 4, 1888, at Saguache, to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel W. Ashley. When he was three years of age, the family moved to Fruita. His mother died soon after they settled in Fruita and his father later married Miss Agnes Nolan. When Charles was 10 years old, the family moved to Kannah Creek. He attended schools at Fruita and Kannah Creek. The father passed away some time later [in 1928]. Mr. Ashley married Grace Edna Leonard of Kannah Creek when he was 21. To this union were born five children, Mrs. Vera Fletcher, Palisade, Wesley Ashley, Grand Junction, and Charles Raymond Ashley, who is serving in the armed forces in the Philippines. Mrs. Lois Bauermeister, Port Wentworth, Ga., and Mamie, who preceded her father in death. Surviving besides the widow and children are three brothers, Leslie, Thomas, and John Ashley; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Davis, Mrs. Alice Lohrman, and Mrs. Amy Sanders; and eight grandchildren. Mr. Ashley was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist church. He was an elder of the church for two years until illness confined him to his home.
