Maddrix, well known and highly respected resident of Crisfield, died in a hospital in Cambridge Saturday evening. He had been a patient there for several months and was 74 years of age. He was born in Crisfield, the son of the late Frank and Amanda Tawes Maddrix, and the husband of the late Edith Sterling Maddrix. Maddrix, well known and highly respected resident of Crisfield, died in a hospital in Cambridge Saturday evening. He had been a patient there for several months and was 74 years of age. He was born in Crisfield, the son of the late Frank and Amanda Tawes Maddrix, and the husband of the late Edith Sterling Maddrix. Mr. Maddrix had been a seafood packer for many years, operating here and in Fort Myers, Fla., but had retired several years ago. He also had established and operated several tent manufacturing plants both in the south and in Crisfield, during the two World Wars. A man of genial disposition and fine personality, Charley Maddrix enjoyed a wide acquaintance and had many firm and warm friends. He had always been energetic and ambitious, and was active until ill health overtook him. His death has caused sincere grief in the community. Funeral services were held at 2.00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Bradshaw Funeral Parlors, conducted by Rev. Otis P. Jefferson, pastor of Immanuel Methodist Church. Interment was in the Crisfield cemetery. Bearers were Elmo H. Carwile, George Crockett, Thomas Blades, and Donald Gerald. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Angeline Sneade, a sister, Mrs. Lyda Crockett, four brothers, Sheriff, Lake and Clarence Maddrix, all of Crisfield, and Elijah Maddrix of Baltimore, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
