Maddrix, was laid to rest in the Crisfield cemetery on Friday morning last. Preceding the rites at the cemetery, funeral services were held from her late house on the corner of Main and Seventh streets, and were conducted by the Rev. J. R. Bicking, pastor of the Immanuel Methodist Church. The services were held at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning and pall-bearers who bore the body to its final resting place included John Holland, Lake Maddrix, Henry Bradshaw, Elsworth Crockett, George Crockett and Franklin Sneade. Mrs. Maddrix, who died at 4:00 o'clock last Wednesday afternoon, the result of a stroke suffered at 8.00 o'clock the preceding morning, was sixty-three years of age. She was the daughter of the late J. E. N. and Angeline Sterling, both of whom were from pioneer Somerset county families The deceased was the timer surviving member of her family since her two brothers, Mr. Harley Sterling and Mr. Chris Sterling, noted musicians, and her sister, Mrs. Ethel Holland, wife of Magistrate Fred N. Holland, preceded her in death by a number of years. She was born in Crisfield in the family home in which she lived her entire life and in which she succumbed last Wednesday afternoon. Many beautiful characteristics were hers and she was widely known and loved. Herself a noted musician, Mrs. Maddrix had devoted much of her talent to the church, having in years past often contributed to the musical programs at the Immanuel Methodist Church.
