V. Brokaw, Son of W. R. Brokaw, Craig, Neb. Entered service January 19, 1918. Promoted to rank of corporal May 1, 1918. Overseas May 5th; was wounded in the Marne offensive July 19th. Joined his regiment September 14th. He was captured in the Verdun offensive and made a prisoner of war; spent 3 months in a German prison Discharged May 15, 1919."
