Description	:	Anna M. (Brokaw) McMurtry Persinger, 90, of Oakland died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland. She was born Dec. 21, 1916, on a farm southwest of Craig to William and Mary (Plummer) Brokaw. She lived on the farm southwest of Craig until age 12, when she moved to Fremont with her parents. She attended school through the 11th grade, when she entered Vanity Cosmetology School and earned her Nebraska cosmetology license. She worked in beauty shops in Fremont, Herman and Craig and for a time had her own shop in Craig. She married Ernest... Read More	Anna M. (Brokaw) McMurtry Persinger, 90, of Oakland died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland. She was born Dec. 21, 1916, on a farm southwest of Craig to William and Mary (Plummer) Brokaw. She lived on the farm southwest of Craig until age 12, when she moved to Fremont with her parents. She attended school through the 11th grade, when she entered Vanity Cosmetology School and earned her Nebraska cosmetology license. She worked in beauty shops in Fremont, Herman and Craig and for a time had her own shop in Craig. She married Ernest McMurtry on March 6, 1939, in Belleville, Kan. She lived in Craig the rest of her life. Survivors include: four sons, Thomas of Sand Springs, Okla., Michael of Craig, Patrick of Boise, Idaho, and Daniel of Blair; a stepson, Ernest McMurtry of Oakland; two stepdaughters, Doris Merriman of Omaha and Mary Livengood of Boise, Idaho; 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers, four sisters, a son and two grandchildren. The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pelan Funeral Services Chapel in Oakland with the Rev. Susan Sanders officiating. A memorial gathering will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Craig Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Dodge County Humane Society, 787 S. Luther Road, Fremont, NE 68025."
