She died Monday, May 11, 1998, at Fremont Area Medical Center. Gladys Brokaw was born Jan. 21, 1911, at Craig. She grew up at Craig. She attended grade school at North Argo near Craig and attended Craig High School until moving to Fremont in 1928. She was a 1929 graduate of Fremont Senior High School. She was a 1929 graduate of Fremont Senior High School. She mar¬ried Andrew Whittington Oct. 12, 1932. He died Feb. 2,• 1973. She was em¬ployed at the former S.S. Kesge Company in Fremont for 27 years. She moved to Nickerson in 1965. She married George A. Franke Sept. 20, 1975, in Fremont. He died Aug. 27, 1997. She worked at the Nickerson Grocery for 19 years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Fremont, and the Women's Fellowship of the Church. Survivors include a stepson, George (and wife, Karen) Franke of Omaha; a stepdaughter, Maralee (Mrs. Jim) Taylor of Wahoo; a, brother, Henry (and wife, Alice) Brokaw of Hebron; a sister, Ann Persinger of Craig; and four step grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. The Rev. W. Ronald Johnson will officiate Thurs¬day's service. Visitation is in progress until 9 tonight with family receiving friends 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Thursday's service at the church. Burial will be in Craig Cemetery. A memorial has been established to First Christian Church.
