He was born March 8, 1919, in Morris County on the family homestead to Vincent and Lucy B. (Leffler) Kieffer. He attended school in Fairview. Read More	Charles Vincent Kieffer, 92, of Council Grove, KS, died Thursday, July 1, 2011 at Morris County Hospital. He was born March 8, 1919, in Morris County on the family homestead to Vincent and Lucy B. (Leffler) Kieffer. He attended school in Fairview. Charles was veteran of World War II, serving as a field lineman in Normandy Northen France Rhineland Ardennes Central Europe. He entered the service on March 9, 1942 and was discharged in September 1945. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign War. He was united in marriage on June 14, 1947 to Grace Alberta Cessnun. Charles was a farmer/rancher. He also worked for the oil field and enjoyed gathering for other ranches. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta in 2004, his parents, three brothers and a sister. Charles is survived by his daughter, Linda Unruh and husband Bill, of Alta Vista; three grandchildren, Pete Unruh and wife Mindy, of Alta Vista, Krista Wilson and husband Clay, of Council Grove and Scott Unruh and wife Angel, of Alta Vista. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Rhett and Calla Unruh, of Alta Vista, Cole and Kasey Wilson, of Council Grove and Ayden and Shiloh Unruh, of Alta Vista; brother, Ed Kieffer and wife Wilma Jean, of Colorado Springs, CO; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Flint Hills Chapel. Burial will follow with a military service at Sunny Slope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Charles V. Kieffer Memorial and may be mailed to Penwell-Gabel, Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
