Boyer, was born Jan. 5, 1878, and passed away at his home six miles northeast of Centerville, Monday evening, Dec. 15, 1941, at 8:30 o'clock, at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 10 days. He was united in marriage to Allie Cross on Feb. 23, 1902. To this union, five daughters were born: Mrs. Chloe Foster of Centerville; Mrs. Goldie Weston, Centerville; Mrs. Sylvia Burns of Centerville; Mrs. Opal Burns of Moravia, and Lola at home. He leaves to mourn his passing, the faithful wife, the five daughters, and the following grandchildren: Betty Jean and Rex Foster; Larry Weston; Charlene and Jimmie Burns; and Paul Dean Burns. He also leaves three sisters: Mrs. Inezza Hiatt, Centerville; Mrs. Basha Foster, Moravia, and Miss Gertie Boyer Centerville\| and one brother, George of Centerville. He also leaves a host of nieces and granddaughter, Catherine Weston. Mr. Boyer was a man of sterling character, having been converted and United with the Methodist church in early life. To this Christian trust he remained faithful throughout the years, attending church regularly. , He was a devoted husband and loving father; a helpful and willing neighbor. His cheery smile and kindly spirit will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairview (Main Station) Methodist church at 2 o'clock p. m., Wednesday, Dec. 17f the Rev. R. C. Rowe officiating. Pallbearers were his four sons-in-law, Olin Foster, David Weston, Leon Burns,Russell Burns, and two nephews,Ivan Boyer and Carl Boyer. Two nieces, Mary Boyer and Mrs. Maxine Main, were in charge of the flowers. The songs sung by Mrs. Clara Morrison of Centerville and Carl Boyer of Ottumwa, accompanied by Mrs. Rubye Brees of Moravia, were "No Night There", "I Will Meet You In the Morning", and Good Night and Good Morning". Among those from a distance here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Rurup, Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Worthington and W. I. Worthington, all of Nebraska. -
