Charlotte Bredemeier was first married to William Meier in Germany. They came to Cook County, Illinois in 1878. She was widowed with three children, William, Henry & Sophia.

She remarried to Henry Sostman in Illinois. In March of 1878 the family moved to Nebraska, including two more daughters that were born in Illinois, Lena and Emilie. They came to her brother Carl Bredemeier,Sr. near Steinauer.

Later they moved to a farm along the Nebraska/Kansas state line to live the rest of their lives.
