She grew up 3 miles east of St. Stephens and completed the 8th grade at St. Stephen's school. On May 1,1934 she married Ernest H. Pohlmeier at St. Stephens Catholic Church south of Lawrence. To this union two children were born, Don Pohlmeier of Lawrence, NE and Marya of St. Louis, MO. She brought 75 turkeys with her when she married Ernest and this started the Pohlmeier Turkey Farm.
