He is survived by his wife, a son, Don, Lawrence; a daughter Marilyn Pohlmeier, St. Louis; a sister, Margie Pohlmeier, Lawrence; four brothers, Walter, Lawrence; George, Plattsmouth, William, Campbell; and Matt, Hutchinson, Minn.; and four grandchildren. Father Thomas Au and Father Banach of Geneva co-celebrated the Mass of the Resurrection at Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence at 10:30 a.m. Tom Dolnicek was the song leader with Linda Ostdiek playing the organ. Don Buescher was the acyolte (sic). Ernest's son Don, was the lector for the Mass. Pallbearers were Kevin Pohlmeier, Darrell Pohlmeier, Gary Pohlmeier, Jack Pohlmeier, Eugene Pohlmeier and Robert Pohlmeier. Honorary Pallbearers were: Vernon Pohlmeier, Harlan Wenzinger, Richard Pohlmeier, Myron Buescher, Ron Pohlmeier, Keith Buescher and Craig Buescher. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Lawrence. Ernest H. Pohlmeier was born on September 16, 1903, at Lawrence, Nebr., the son of Joe and Mary (Gilsdorf) Pohlmeier. He passed away at Grandview Manor in Campbell, Ne. on Sunday, June 7th. He attended Sacred Heart School as a youth and on May 1, 1934 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Buescher at St. Stephen's church (sic). To this union two children were born. Mr. Pohlmeier farmed and was a turkey grower from the depression until his retirement. His retirement was brought on by alzheimer's disease. He spent the last 11 1/2 years of his life at Grandview Manor nursing home in Campbell, Ne. Mr. Pohlmeier was an active member of his community giving back to it in the form of service, as much as he received from it. He was a member of Sacred Heart parish for which he served as trustee. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters; he served on the rural school district board of directors. He served as president of the Nebraska Turkey Federation. Known as "Ernie" most of his life, he loved his lifelong profession, farming and working with the soil, becoming a master of the art of making things grow. He loved his family and in his later years especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He was known to be peace loving and caring, always speaking of the good qualities of others. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Albert and one sister, Eleanor. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; son: Don of Lawrence; daughter Marys, of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Margie Pohlmeier of Lawrence; brothers, George, of Plattsmouth, Ne.; Walter of Lawrence; William of Campbell and Matt of Hutchinson, Minnesota; grandchildren: Kevin, Gary and Marie of Lawrence and Darrell of York, Ne.
