Description	:	Cheryl “Sherri” Kay Miller, 17, of Vermillion, who passed away on May 29, 1971, will finally be placed to rest after 43 years. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Vermillion with Rev. Elmer “Sandy” Aakre officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service. The service will be held on the 43rd anniversary of Sherri’s passing. A committal service will be held immediately following the service at Bluff View Cemetery in Vermillion. Sherri was born on Nov. 16, 1953, in Vermillion to Melvin and Helen (Jensen) Miller. She grew up in both the Vermillion and Beresford area. She transferred to the Vermillion/Beresford High School partway through her time in school and this transfer highlighted how caring and liked she was. She managed to quickly make friends in both schools due to her outspoken and outgoing nature. While in school she was active in the cheer squad and enjoyed baton twirling. Sherri was a friend to all. Her grandmother, Pearl, and brother, Al, were very important role models in her life. Friendships and loyalty were of the utmost importance to her. She was very dedicated to all whom she knew. She is survived by her sisters, Rita (Roger) Allen and Dawn (Kyle) Hewlett, both of Watertown; her aunts, Carol (Clete) Donahue of Albuquerque, NM, Norma Jenson of Centerville, and Anne Johnson of Vermillion; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Miller and Helen Waggener; her step-fathers, Leonard Bye and Fred Waggener; her brother, Alan Miller; her sister, Linda Seney; her grandparents, Will and Carrie Miller, and Nick and Pearl Jensen; her nephew, Austin Hewlett; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Miller; and a very “special friend,” Pam Jackson. Services have been entrusted to the Kober Funeral Home of Vermillion. The Sherri Miller Memorial Fund has been established at the Vermillion Credit Union for any memorial contributions. The Miller family would like to send out a special thanks to all those in various organizations that spent countless hours and days continuing the search after Sherri disappeared.
