Toney, 63, of Forest City, died Saturday, December 18, 2021. Our "Tidgy" as she liked to be called by her grandchildren, was an amazing wife, mom, daughter artist and could cook like no other. Cherie was born on December 21st, 1957 In Helena, Arkansas, the oldest child to Janice Corder. Cherie grew up in Memphis and Jackson, Tennessee with her brother, Herbie Hunt. At 15, Cherie met the love of her life, Ricky Toney, at a skating rink near the base he was stationed at. They were married on October 10th, 1976 at the Gaffney Courthouse. This began almost 38 years of a marriage full of adventure. Cherie and Ricky had two children, that was their world, Jim Toney and Melinda Toney Wilson. Ricky worked in the power industry and Cherie was always right by his side. She held many jobs from the Golden Rooster to City Table Restaurant/Catering co-owner (and what she said was chief dishwasher) to professional nursing and floral designer. Cherie traveled the world, living in twenty-eight different locations including Indonesia, China and Mongolia. She stood on the edge of an active volcano, climbed the Great Wall, swam in the middle of the Indian Ocean, volunteered in Uganda, traveled and made friends all over the world. As life went on, she was blessed with a daughter-in-law, Ashley Holland Toney and three grandchildren, Boone Toney, Addison and Brenna Wilson. She always made sure they knew how much they were loved and they adored her the same. Cherie is preceded in death by her husband Ricky Toney; daughter Melinda Wilson; mother Janice Corder; grandmother Elizabeth Maureen Corder; brother Herbie Hunt; father and mother-in-law James and Dorothy Toney. Cherie often talked about the tables of her life. At her table she created, designed art and planned her next venture. She used her table to do what she loved, entertain and cook. The moment when you took the first bite and you felt bliss and comfort is what she loved. Whether that was at her restaurant, at Ricky and Cherie's annual Christmas party or surrounded by her closest friends at "Sunday Supper." She enjoyed those intimate moments surrounded by the ones she loved at Tidgy's summer camp, playing games and eating her favorite Bojangles with Boone while sharing facts and laughing. If you had the chance to gather at her table, you were lucky and she adored having you there. Thank you for sharing her table with her. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 3 pm Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Paul White, Jr. will officiate.
