Description	:	Chloe was born on July 13, 1926, in Algona, Iowa, the only child of Jeanette Steven Clevenger. Raised by her grandparents the first four years of her life, she then lived with her mother in Washington, D.C., and Ohio. She spent her summers living with her aunt, uncle, and cousins on the farm in Iowa where she met and married the love of her life, LaVerne. Read More	Chloe was born on July 13, 1926, in Algona, Iowa, the only child of Jeanette Steven Clevenger. Raised by her grandparents the first four years of her life, she then lived with her mother in Washington, D.C., and Ohio. She spent her summers living with her aunt, uncle, and cousins on the farm in Iowa where she met and married the love of her life, LaVerne. Giving up a nursing career, she and LaVerne married on August 20, 1944, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Boone where she was an active member of St. Paul’s Ladies Aid. They raised five children, Larry (Judie Myer) of Trenton, Missouri; Lynne Johnson (Dr. Jack) of Milford, Iowa; Rev. Keith (Debbie Mau) of Manhattan, Illinois; Jean Timm (Lowell) of Danville, Illinois; and Cindy Andorf (David) of Des Moines, Iowa. In 1969, LaVerne and Chloe sold the farm and moved into Boone. After spending many happy and busy years as a farmer’s wife and fulltime mother, Chloe embarked upon her second career as an insurance and realtor for Century 21 Real Estate in Boone for twenty years. Her favorite hobbies were sewing, reading, caring for her family, and helping people. Chloe and LaVerne worshipped at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. The Lord brought Chloe home on December 30, 2017, at the age of 91. Chloe loved her life, her Lord, her family, and her friends. Her smile and loving concern will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband LaVerne with whom she shared 73 years of marriage. Chloe’s love and words of wisdom will always be cherished by her 21 grandchildren and shared with her 31 great grandchildren who were all privileged to call her “Grandma.” Thank you, Jesus, for the gift of this great lady.
