Casketbearers were Ival Smith, Jerry Smith, Bill Orris, Floyd Jacobsen, Jack Jacobsen, and Howard Jacobsen, all grandsons of the deceased. Interment was in the Coon Rapids cemetery. A son of Jacob C. and Bertha Nelsen Jacobsen, he was born in Ora, Denmark August 6, 1867. He came to the United States at the age of 12 and settled in Shelby county in Iowa, moved again to Audubon and Guthrie counties, and came to Carroll in county in 1922. He has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Valley Smith, for the past two years. He was married to Mary Mikkelsen on November 29, 1895. She preceded him in death on April 15, 1949. He is survived by eight children- Jake C, Clarence, Harry, Mrs. Noble (Kathryn) Long, and Mrs. Valley (Selma) Smith of Coon Rapids, Mrs. Floyd (Edna) Moylsn of Scranton, and Charles H. of Perry, and Mrs. Keith (Harriet) Orris of Des Moines. Also by four brothers, Jake, Pete, and Hans of Harlan and Jim of Audubon. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, and one sister. He was a member of the Danish Lutheran Church of Coon Rapids.
