His parents, Kristen Pederson Ese and Kari Guttormsdatter Langeteig were born in Tjugum Sokn which is now known as Balestrand, Norway. He was the 11th of 11 children born to his parents. Read More	Kristen Kristenson Ese was born in Olmsted County, MN around Byron where his family farmed. His parents, Kristen Pederson Ese and Kari Guttormsdatter Langeteig were born in Tjugum Sokn which is now known as Balestrand, Norway. He was the 11th of 11 children born to his parents. His mother, Kari, may have emigrated with her mother, Ingrid Larsdtr Eitorn Langeteig, and some siblings after the death of Kari's father. The family moved to South Dakota when homesteading opened up. Kristen's father changed his name and spelling, to Christ Pederson Esse, with some variations. Christ's sister, Louisa who married Axil Loriks also moved to this area and are buried at Lake Whitewood. Christ married Mary Lee, also born in Minnesota to Norwegian immigrants. They had six children: Lulu, Helen, Ruby, Claude, Glenn and Donald Peterson. After Christ died, Mary remarried to Enoch O. Berge, who was also widowed with young children.
