Description	:	Chris Stahly was born at Hudson, IL, February 2, 1874 and passed away at his home, Monday October 15, at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 13 days. He was the son of John M. and Mary Stahly, pioneers of this county and he himself spent nearly his entire life in this community. He was united in marriage to Allie B. West, February 2, 1897. Read More	Chris Stahly was born at Hudson, IL, February 2, 1874 and passed away at his home, Monday October 15, at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 13 days. He was the son of John M. and Mary Stahly, pioneers of this county and he himself spent nearly his entire life in this community. He was united in marriage to Allie B. West, February 2, 1897. They were blessed with three children, two- sons, Harry and Charles, and one daughter, Mary. Harry passed away in 1937 and Mrs. Stahly in 1941. In 1944 he was married to Mrs. Mary Trabert of Alliance, Nebraska, who survives him. Other survivors are Mrs. Mary Wood of Seward, his son, Charles of Dennison, Texas, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Wilma Stahly, twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Esther Hygema of Clarinda, Iowa and three brothers , Joel, Herman and Pete all of Milford. In the early years of his life he operated the West Mills and afterward farmed and raised blooded stock. He exhibited horses at most of the fairs in this community, both state and county. He was a practicing veerianarian for more than forty years, carrying on his work the past few years under extreme difficulties because of poor health. Through his work he won a host of friends and many of his neighbors have benefited from his charitable spirit and willing nature. He regularly attended the MBC Church when his health permitted and a Christian spirit always prevailed in his home, together with a fine hospitality and all who enjoyed his acquaintance have an everlasting remembrance of his fine personality and honest friendship. Funeral services were held at the M.B.C. Church conducted by Rev. E, S. Tachetter. Music was furnished by Miss Marjorie Eicher and Mrs. Kenneth Eicher. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Relatives who came from a distance to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Stahly and daughter of Denison, Texas, Mrs. Esther Hygema of Clarinda, IA, Mr. Bert Brown of Omaha, Roy and Lee Trabert and Mrs. Pearl Lotspeich of Alliance, Mr. and Mr. Will Stahly of Dix, Colo., and Mr. Bert Stahly of Stratton.
